Best Garage Security Camera
What I like
I love that the Google Nest plugs right into your smart home system. If your house already has smart home capabilities, you’ll be able to plug this right into your pre-existing system. It’s great even if you don’t as it doesn’t require any sort of hub.
It’s weatherproof so you can keep this monitoring your garage all year round. Once it’s set up, you’ll have 24/7 live video to monitor in 130-degree view. It records in 1080p as so you’ll be able to tell what’s going on, no fuzzy pictures!
If you’re on vacation, you can get alerts any time there is any movement when you aren’t around. At night, the night vision camera keeps the video bright so you can tell what’s going on – even in pitch-black darkness!
Installation is a breeze and attaches to a magnet mount so you won’t need to screw anything in. You can secure it anywhere near your garage so you’ll be able to monitor anything or anyone that comes close to your home.
With Google’s Nest software(Paid service), Nest Aware, you’ll have 10 days of 24/7 video history that will let you rewind time and check out any nosy neighbors or package thieves that may come near your home.
What I don’t like
One gripe I have with the Google Nest is that if you want to utilize their proprietary software, it costs $100 a year for the basic package. If you aren’t willing to pay a yearly service to continue monitoring your property, then you won’t get 10 days of video playback or zone alerts.
Verdict
I think that if you’re looking for the very best garage security camera, then you should look no further. If you’re ok with paying a yearly fee to use Google Nest Aware software, then this security camera will keep your garage monitored at all hours of the day.

LiftMaster myQ Smart Garage HD Camera
What I like
This is an alternative to the Google Nest and it’s a bit cheaper as well. If you have a Liftmaster smart garage system, you can plug this right into the myQ ecosystem and control everything from there.
This device was intended to monitor the inside of your garage. It’s great if you fear that one day someone might break into your garage and take your precious tools. You won’t have to worry in fear anymore as you’ll be able to record them at any moment in the day.
If you have children or pets, you can also monitor what they’re doing inside your garage. Another nifty feature is that it has a two-way audio system, so if you see your children making a ruckus, you can chime in from anywhere in the world that you have internet.
Installation is super easy with Bluetooth connectivity and a magnetic mounting base that you can apply anywhere. It works from -4 to 122F so you don’t have to worry about this device crapping out during extreme heat or cold.
This garage security camera utilizes Key by Amazon so you can watch the live stream or check-in whenever you receive delivery or groceries. You can save videos up to 7 or 30 days depending on the subscription you subscribe to. Videos are saved at 1080p and you get 140 degrees of wide-angle coverage.
What I don’t like
Another downfall with this product is that it has an annual subscription system just like the Google Nest. The UI of the myQ interface is not great either as described by reviewers of this product. If you don’t pay for the software then you don’t get to have playback of any video.
The reason for this is the videos have to be stored somewhere and they can take up a lot of space. Think of it as renting a hard drive, but it is still a bit annoying to pay for a product as you don’t truly own it.
Verdict
I think that if you want to monitor the inside of your garage with a great security camera, the myQ security camera is not a bad choice. I recommend it if you already are used to the myQ ecosystem.
Best Budget Garage Security Camera
What I like
I love that you can still monitor your garage without breaking the bank with this security camera. It features 1080p recording and a 90-degree viewing angle, comparable to the much more expensive options. It also has 2 infrared lights for detection and 2 spotlights so it can still record during nighttime. It has 100ft of night time vision which will keep you monitoring at all hours.
If you’re worried about this camera being damaged by rain or water, it’s IP66 weatherproofed. It’s not waterproof but will hold up against rain now and again. The camera also has motion detection which will alert you any time it notices movement occurring. It’s built to reduce false alarms so you won’t be getting tons of alerts while you’re away.
Once it senses movement, it starts recording right away. It also has a two-way audio system which will let you communicate with whoever is inside of your garage. If your kids are acting up, you can chime in and calm them down.
It live streams as well which can be checked out with the free mobile app. Be aware this device does not work with 5GHz wifi, only 2.4Ghz. What I LOVE though is you can plug in a micro-SD card into this device and record your own video. You won’t have to spend a cent on proprietary software, you can simply invest in a micro-SD card you own and do it that way.
What I don’t like
The mounting device is not magnetic so you will need to install it with a drill. This can reduce the number of places you can install this device which can be a downside. It also doesn’t have a battery within so you’ll have to plug it into an outlet.
Verdict
I think that for the price, it is hard to beat the value you get out of this. It also works with Alexa, so you can monitor your home with your smart system at all hours of the day.
Final Thoughts
The best garage security camera I could find was the Google Nest Cam Outdoor and if you’re after a budget option, the ZOSI C308 HD 1080p is a great choice as well.
Beefing up your garage security can be the difference when someone thinks about breaking and entering. With the best security camera for the garage, you’ll be able to sleep easy knowing that you have deterrents in place to prevent any burglars.
