Best Overall Garage Workbench

Keter Work Bench

Keter Work Bench

This workbench is not only going to save you space, it’ll get you started on a plethora of different projects. Once you’re done, fold it up and stow it away for another day.

You’ll be provided with a work surface that holds up to 400lbs. The durable steel legs will provide you with ample support to get any DIY project done without worry about it buckling in on itself. The worst thing is working with a wobbly workbench!

It comes with 2-12 inch clamps that will hold down wood, metal, or anything else you’d like to hold still. You can supply your own clamps as well if you require extra clamps.

It only takes 30 seconds to set up, the quick opening and fold system allows you to get started on your projects right away. With it being less than 30 pounds, it does a ton while saving on space. You won’t need to lose an entire corner of your garage to a workbench with the Keter Work Bench.

What We Like

The Keter Work Bench folds up so you won’t have to lose out on any precious garage space. You’ll be able to work on your DIY projects while keeping your garage tidy.

It comes with two clamps as well as hole sections so you can clamp vertically or horizontally. This is a big plus when compared to other workbenches that don’t offer the same feature.

What We Don’t Like

The advertised weight the workbench can hold is 1000lbs but reviewers noticed the tag that comes on the product says 400 lbs is the limit.

Some purchasers also mention that after long-term heavy-duty usage, the workbench wasn’t able to keep up and the middle brackets gave out. It’s a great bench for a DIYer, but it won’t satisfy your needs if you need a workbench for daily work.

Pros
  • Greay for DIYer
  • Clamp vertically or horizontally
  • 400lb limit
Cons
  • Not suitable for heavy-duty long term use

Best DIY Garage Workbench

2x4basics Custom Work Bench

2x4basics Custom Work Bench

If you didn’t have to supply the wood, this workbench would have won the best garage workbench. The unlimited amount of flexibility allows you to customize your garage workbench in any color and shape you can imagine.

You’ll be able to hold up to 1000lbs per 2×4 shelf which is more than plenty for any requirement. You can choose to buy it an L-shape if your garage is low on space. Not only that, you can decide to purchase it with a vise, a pegboard, or hangable storage.

It comes with 4 workbench legs and 6 shelf links, the brackets are made out of heavy gauge structural resin. It only requires 90-degree cuts and you’ll be satisfied with your very own customized garage workbench.

What We Like

What’s not to love about the 2x4basics Custom Work Bench? The biggest takeaway is that you’ll be able to paint or finish it and make it yours. You don’t need to build it with the middle shelf if you want extra legroom.

You’ll only need to do 90-degree cuts, so even if you don’t have any woodworking ability you’ll be able to tell your local department store how you’d like your wood cut. Your best bench vise will fit perfectly on the edge as well.

This workbench will finally allow you to organize your garage and reclaim garage space.

What We Don’t Like

You may not be handy or willing to spend a bunch of time getting this workbench put together. Convenience can be worth paying for at times.

Pros
  • Each of the bottom shelves can hold 1000lbs
  • Paint/Finish it how you’d like
  • Easily the best deal on this list
Cons
  • It’s a DIY project

Best Portable Garage Workbench

WORX WX066 Sidekick Portable

WORX WX066 Sidekick Portable

This lightweight workbench can come with you wherever you need it. (it’s only 13 pounds!)

You’ll be able to enjoy the toughness you expect out of a workbench while also enjoying the portability this workbench offers. When you’re done, fold it up and toss it in the back of your truck and call it a day.

The metal legs were designed to not slide out or sink into the soft ground giving you a stable work surface. You’ll be able to put up to 300lbs on top of this workbench without worry.

It comes with 2 clamps so you can connect these tables if you wish or use the 4 clamps to hold together your wood or metal. If you have any WORX tools or tables, this table is designed to be the same height and will be a great addition to your arsenal.

What We Like

The WORX WX066 Sidekick Portable doesn’t mislead you or let you think it’s anything other than a portable workbench. It’ll be there when you need it and it’ll be reliable. You won’t be putting a ton of stuff on it, but it’s an affordable option for a workbench on the go.

Great for anyone who works in construction jobs. You don’t want something that is going to drop out from underneath just by taking a look at it.

What We Don’t Like

It’s not meant for heavy loads. You might require something that can handle higher loads, but from what I’ve seen if you can stay inside the 300lb weight limit the WORX Sidekick is a great purchase.

Pros
  • Reliable
  • Holds up to 300lbs
  • Portable
Cons
  • Not suited for heavy-duty usage (but it’s still great)

Best Budget Workbench

BLACK+DECKER Workmate Portable Workbench

BLACK+DECKER Workmate Portable Workbench

You can still afford a great workbench if you’re on a budget. It’s nothing fancy, but it still holds 350lbs and it’ll hold what you need in place without budging.

The nonskid feet will prevent the workbench from moving whenever you need to cut or measure anything. It’s foldable and weighs only 17.8 pounds so you’ll have no problems transporting the workbench to and from worksites.

Adjustable swivel pegs make it easy to clamp irregularly shaped objects so you can hold stuff still without any issues. The jaws resist warping and will be able to be angled around uniquely shaped materials.

Some purchasers of this product mention that the instructions for installation are a bit confusing, but the video on the page should help you if you decide to purchase the BLACK+DECKER Workmate Portable Workbench.

What We Like

It’s a budget workbench that’s not going to break the bank. It won’t hold the biggest loads, but 350lbs is still more than enough legroom to get stuff done.

What We Don’t Like

If you require a heavy-duty workbench, this ain’t it.

Pros
  • Fairly priced
  • Holds up to 350lbs
  • Portable
Cons
  • Not meant for heavy-duty usage

Best Garage Workbench With Storage

Olympia Multi-Purpose

Olympia Multi-Purpose Workbench

If you’re a disorganized mess like me, this workbench is going to be a great addition to your garage. It comes with a light too which is handy when you’re tinkering about late into the night.

One thing you’ll notice is that the tabletop is only capable of holding 220 pounds, but this workbench was not meant for heavy usage. It’s a place to gather all of your tools, do some light work, and keep your garage organized.

The legs are made out of heavy-duty steel with a durable enamel finish while the tabletop itself is made out of particleboard. The top shelf load is 44 pounds. It comes with a pegboard so you won’t need to forget where you put your screwdriver (again).

You’ll be able to enjoy two drawers for even more storage and organization. The Olympia Multi-Purpose is a great solution if you’re looking for an affordable option to tidy up your garage.

What I Like

You’ll be able to organize your garage fairly easily with the amount of storage you’ll get with this workbench. The included pegboard allows for your tools to be hung making them easy to find.

The drawers are also a nice touch, and it’s not too pricy for what it offers.

What I Don’t Like

This is not meant to be used with a saw on top or any heavy-duty tool. The particleboard is far too weak to hold anything other than light projects.

Putting together this workbench is also described as “Not Your Average Ikea”. It comes with around 100 screws and the instructions can be quite unclear. Not a bad purchase for the money, but might be better off spending a bit more on a tougher option.

Pros
  • Gets you organized
  • Has a light for late-night tinkering
Cons
  • Isn’t suited for heavy-duty usage
  • Top is made out of particleboard
