Best Track Saw

BOSCH GKT 13-225L

  • Power: Corded
  • Depth of cut: 2.5″
  • Variable speed control: 3600-6250 RPMs

With a good track saw, you should expect that it stays reliably on the track and cuts accurately every single time. That’s exactly what you get from the Bosch GKT 13-225L.

What I like

The best part about is how this track saw moves while cutting. The bottom plate fits precisely with the track, securing the saw in place with the cam-actuated adjustment knobs on the bottom. Once it’s on the track, you won’t worry about any wobble or it coming loose.

If you have a dust hose already in the workshop, you can attach it to the dust blower in the back. You won’t have to worry about the dust making a mess in your shop like with other track saws. The dust port also can be angled in any which way so the hose will be out of the way while cutting.

You’ll be able to bevel from -1 degrees up to 47 degrees. The 13 amp motor is powerful enough to help you cut through even the toughest woods out there. You’ll be able to do plunge cuts up to a depth of 2.5″, plenty for even the pros out there.

The scales are super easy to read. They’ll help guide each cut to the perfect length. If you’re used to metric scales, you can utilize those measurements as well.

You won’t have to worry about running out of cord length as it’s 12.5 feet long. Perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to worry about charging batteries 24/7. If you’re worried about pushing this saw too hard, don’t worry, it’ll turn itself off with its overload protection.

If you don’t want to utilize a track and use it as a circular saw, you’ll be able to do that. I only recommend doing that if you know what you’re doing, so please be careful!

What I don’t like

The one bad part about this saw is that it doesn’t come with the Bosch tracks. The tracks are built in a specific way to fit this saw, and without it, you may not get the quality of cuts that you would expect. The good part is that if you have a track already, the baseplate has a piece of plastic that you can remove and fit most track brands available.

If you want the versatility of track saws but don’t want to pay for a table saw, then I think this track saw is an investment. Build quality is solid and you won’t have to worry about having enough power to cut 2×4 after 2×4. Highly recommended if you don’t mind investing in your tools.

  • Great dust collection system
  • 2.5″ depth to cut
  • Variable speed system to give you control
  • Doesn’t come with a track

Best Track Saw Kit

Kreg ACS-SAW Adaptive Cutting System Saw Bundle

  • Power type: Wired
  • Depth of cut:  2 1/8 inch
  • Variable speed control: Yes

If you don’t already have a track and don’t want to spend a ton more buying extras, you’ll have everything you need with this best track saw kit.

What I like

You get not one, but two guide rails which amount to 112 inches of tracking power. You’ll be able to glide through sheets of wood while staying on the track and getting accurate cuts, every time. You can easily connect both tracks with the 4 guide track connectors. It also has an anti-chip strip that will hold the track in place without the need for clamps.

This track saw also has an electronic brake which is super handy. Sometimes the saw will get stuck, and it’s important that can stop the blade ASAP to avoid any injury. An electronic brake is a must-have feature, especially if you’re ripping wood all day long.

It has a riving knife as well which will prevent pinching, keeping you safe and worry-free when doing longer cuts. It’s super important, especially when using a track saw, that you don’t jam up the blade and get a kickback.

The 12 amp motor is going to be plenty for any wood you need to cut. You can also do plunge cuts or miter cuts from -1 to 47 degrees.

What I don’t like

Some purchasers mentioned that when doing miter cuts, this track saw had difficulty staying flush with the track.

If you’re a hobbyist woodworker who wants to take your craft to the next level, this is the tool for you. It’s a bit cheaper than the first option but still is a great overall purchase. If you look at it as an investment, you’ll 100% get your money’s worth with this track saw.

  • Comes with 2 tracks
  • Has an electronic brake
  • Also has a riving knife which keeps you safe
  • Can be difficult to stay on the track

Runner Up Best Track Saw

Makita SP6000J 6-1/2-Inch Plunge Circular Saw

  • Power type: Corded
  • Depth of cut: 2.188″
  • Variable speed control: 2,000-5,200 RPMs

The Makita SP6000J is more affordable than the Bosch GKT 13-225L while coming with guide rails. You won’t have to sink a ton of money into the best track saw, it’s all you need if you’re getting serious about DIY projects.

What I like

I love that cost is quite a bit less than the first option. This plunge cut track saw does sacrifice some RPMs and depth of cut, but if you’re a weekend warrior this track saw is all you’ll ever need.

The depth of cut is 55 mm which is a bit less than the first saw on this list. You can however still make pinpoint adjustments to get the depth of cut that you require. It can be a bit annoying that the depth is measured in millimeters if you aren’t used to it, however.

Simply press the button on the handle, and lock it into the depth you’ve selected. This is great for doing plunge cuts which you’re going to utilize a lot using a track saw.

One unique feature of this saw is that it has a lock on the baseplate which will hold the track in place so you can adjust the bevel however you like. The positive stops for the bevel go to 22.5, 45, and 48 degrees, Enough options for any project.

You also don’t need to just use this as a track saw. You can buy an additional edge guard to utilize it like a circular saw. The electronic speed control will also ensure that you’re cutting at a constant speed for precise cuts.

It also has a dust collection valve which can make clean up super easy when you’re cutting large amounts of wood.

What I don’t like

This saw doesn’t have anti-kickback, which can be disappointing for the price point. You will have to be careful when using this saw, especially if you’re new to track saws. This saw also has less power than the BOSCH GKT 13-225L but you do need to make up for the cost somehow.

If you’re a professional that needs to cut thick, hardwood all day long, you’ll be better off with the first option. If you’re a weekend warrior that wants a powerful, reliable track saw that can handle most of your cutting needs then this one of the top track saws for you.

  • Enough power for most usecases
  • Cheaper and comes with guide rails
  • Can be used with an edge guard
  • Can be a bit underpowered for harder woods
  • No anti-kickback

Best Track Saw for the Money

WEN CT1065

  • Power type: Corded
  • Depth of cut: 2-1/3″
  • Variable speed control: No

I love that this is a no-frills track saw that anyone can afford. If you want to take your woodworking to the next level but don’t want to spend a ton, this budget track saw is a great option.

What I like

I like that this saw still has a depth of cut of 2-1/3″. If you haven’t purchased a table saw quite yet, then a track saw is going to be a great tool in your arsenal. It’ll allow you to do almost anything a table saw can do while giving you more flexibility in the cuts you can make. You’ll be able to easily do plunge or scoring cuts, simply select the cut setting.

You can bevel this saw 45 degrees for miter cuts up to 1-5/8″ thick. You’ll be able to start cutting out some more advanced joinery work like miter butts. You can also set the depth gauge to the precise measurement you need so you can get pinpoint plunge cuts.

The 10 amp motor utilizes a 6.5″ blade up to 5500 RPMs. This is enough power for most basic woodworking DIY cuts. The base also stays smooth on the track so you won’t need to force the saw in any direction. You’ll also be able to utilize the dust port making for super easy cleanup once you’re done cutting.

What I don’t like

This model doesn’t come with a track nor does it have a variable speed option. This can be off-putting if you’re wanting to get an all-in-one deal which raises the price considerably if you do need to purchase the track.

I still think that while you’ll need to purchase the track separately, it’s still one of the best track saws for the money. It’s going to be hard to compete within this price range and it’s perfect for DIY projects that you’ve been wanting to do.

  • 2-1/3″ depth of cut
  • Runs at 5500 RPMs, great power
  • Great budget buy
  • Doesn’t come with a track

Best Cordless Track Saw

  • Power type: Cordless
  • Depth of cut: 2″
  • Variable speed control: Yes

Wow! All I can say is Bosch went all out when creating the best cordless track saw around. If you’re on the go but still need powerful as heck cutting power by your side, this is one of the best track saws for you.

What I like

The best part about this cordless track saw is that it has an eco-mode if you need to extend the juice on your batteries for another 30%. No one wants to sit around and wait for batteries to be charged. Just turn on eco-mode and you’ll be able to get your job finished quick as heck.

You can utilize the track adjustment knobs on the front or rear to get the right fit on the track you use. If you already have a Bosch track, then this saw will fit right in. It also has a single bevel pivot point which can be positioned for bevel cuts or any other cut that you have in mind.

The onboard control module will allow you to use the power settings that you need. You won’t have to waste battery when working and can adjust the power to exactly the amount you need.

It has an electric brake which is great to keep you safe. You can choose from 2800-5500 RPMs, enough for almost any woodworking job out there.

If you’re worried about this overloading on you, it comes with overload protection. As well as a swiveling hose port for dust collection so you won’t need to worry about the hose getting in the way of ripping long pieces of wood.

What I don’t like

The price. You are paying almost as much as a corded circular saw for less power and a battery. The battery is also not included with this product.

Depending on what you’re after, it may be a good buy for you. I would suggest that if you know you’ll be around an outlet that you just go ahead and buy an equivalent corded option. You’ll save on money and have the power to boot.

If you truly do need a cordless track saw, this will be your best bet.

  • ECO mode to save on battery
  • All the features of a corded track saw
  • Swiveling hose port
  • Costs almost as much as the corded option

Best Alternative Cordless Track Saw

WORX WX531L 20V 2.0Ah

  • Power type: Cordless
  • Depth of cut:  1-1/2”
  • Variable speed control: No

While this isn’t a track saw, it is perfect for anyone that wants the flexibility a cordless track saw offers while saving.

What I like

When you work with a circular saw all day long, you want it to be comfortable in the hand. The WORX WX531L was designed with a slim body so you can easily grip the saw and keep it in place. You’ll love how comfortable you’ll feel even after tackling longer projects.

While cordless, it still has a depth of cut of 1-1/2”. You’ll be able to cut through most wood that you’re working with and if you’re in a pinch, you can always turn the wood over to complete the cut. You’ll be able to easily control the depth adjustment with the side switch.

Even for a budget, you can still utilize a 45-degree angle bevel for miter cuts. You’ll be able to utilize the LED light it comes with so even if you’re in a shady area, you won’t need to relocate so you have vision.

Attach the dust extractor on the side and you’ll have limited cleanup at the end of your long workday. If you own other cordless Worx products, you can interchange the battery between them. Not a bad deal, I’d say!

What I don’t like

The guide notch has been described as 1/16″ which can provide for inaccurate cuts. It’s also not a track saw so you will need to be accurate with your cuts.

This cordless saw still has the power to cut through most wood you’ll be working with. You won’t need to lug around a big 7.5″ track saw with you everywhere and it’s great in a jiffy. The convenience this tool offers is unmatched.

  • Bevels 45 degrees
  • Has LED light for when it’s dark
  • Dust extractor
  • Not a track saw!

Final Thoughts

Finding the best track saw for your needs will help open the doors to what you can do in your workshop. I do think that if you have the money, the BOSCH GKT 13-225L is one of the best track saws around.
